The issuance of various certificates within a few hours to people in remote areas of Sanguem will be facilitated as all seven panchayats in the taluka have been digitalized under the Digital India scheme.
Each panchayat has been provided with a computer, printer and scanner. Quepem dy collector Shanker Gaonkar told TOI that Sanguem taluka has villages in remote areas, some as far as 70 kilometres away from the dy collector’s office.
“They have to come to Quepem for their divergent, resident and income certificates. Considering their difficulties I had requested the collector (South) Sachin Sindhe to provide computers to start issuing certificates,” said Gaonkar. People can apply for their certificates in their respective panchayat office. The panchayat will then send it to the mamlatdar and deputy collector for approval. Officials from the mamlatdar’s and dy collector’s office who are dealing with e-certificates have been instructed to send the certificates back to the panchayat.
