Following a complaint, the Anjuna Caisua village panchayat swung into action and stopped the illegal landfilling which was taking place at a low lying field near Tito Bridge. The Anjuna talathi has submitted a report to the Bardez mamlatdar for further action.

As per information, illegal landfilling is going on in survey number 565/11 of Anjuna village which is a communidade land. The local panch member Pedro Mendonca said that during late night, mud was brought and dumped in the field.

Mendonca alleged that “Illegal hill cutting is being done in ward no 6 and mud is being brought and dumped in the field. If we allow such incidents to go on then nature will be totally destroyed, hence strong action must be taken”.

Anjuna talathi Dayanand Redkar said, “I have already inspected the field and submitted a report to the mamlatdar about the illegal landfilling for further action”.

The Village Panchayat has also written a letter to the senior town planner of the town and country planning department and copies of the letter has been submitted to the Anjuna police inspector demanding action against the culprit.

Sarpanch Savio Almeida said, “I received a complaint about the illegal landfilling going on near Tito’s bridge. I personally visited the spot and also called the talathi and filed a complaint with the town and country planning department and also with the mamlatdar”.

“We fear that landfilling is being done in order to start some commercial activity. Hence, I have written a letter to the authorities demanding immediate action in the incident” he said.
