Panchayat Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Sunday inaugurated the new Arvalem Panchayat, the 190th panchayat of the State, in Bicholim Taluka and also announced a provision of Rs 35 crore for the development of various areas in the panchayat.
At a function, Parsekar said Arvalem Panchayat will consist of five wards and added that elections to the new panchayat will be held in due course of time. He advised the villagers to make best use of the panchayat status.
“A provision of Rs 35 crore has been made by the State government for the development of various areas in the panchayat under Deendayal Infrastructure Yojna to build durable assets like halls, panchayat building, etc.
Sanquelim MLA Dr Pramod Sawant said the dream of panchayat is fulfilled and asked the villagers to elect panchayat members unopposed to have sustainable development of Arvalem village.
Director of Panchayat administration Narayan Sawant guided the villagers on the functioning of the panchayat administration.
