The Avedem-Cotombi and Chaifi special gram sabha on Sunday resolved to file an FIR against the property owners in Cotombi-Paroda for selling plot to a Haryana-based party.
The gram sabha, which was chaired by Sarpanch Shanti Mascarenhas and in which all panchas were present, witnessed heated discussion with most of the members demanding to know who the developers are and how they developed the 13,000 sq mtrs of land without the knowledge of the panchayat.
The villagers pointed out that 32 plots have been developed by cutting trees and a road has been constructed over the branch of irrigation canal in the government-acquired land.
Panch Mafald Fernandes informed the villagers that he had raised the issue during the panchayat meeting on October 17, and had stated that plots were being developed by cutting hills in the No Development Zone and sought to know whether the panchayat gave any permission to the party concerned.
“Panchayat informed that no permission has been given to any party to develop plots at Cotombi,” informed Fernandes.Deputy Sarpanch Krishna Gauns Dessai informed that the panchayat inspected the site and complained to the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department in November.
At this, the villagers demanded to file FIR against all the parties including the machinery and truck owners, when the sarpanch could not give satisfactory reply as to why the matter has been delayed.Panch Fernandes informed that the developer from Haryana developed 32 plots without any permission from authorities concerned.
