The post was left vacant after the erstwhile Sangolda sarpanch Premanand Kochrekar tendered his resignation from the post. An engineer Krishna Gadekar was the presiding officer from BDO office.

The presiding officer told the media persons that only one application was received for the post of sarpanch. Premanand Kochrekar proposed the name of Avinash Naik while Jalisha Tulaskar seconded it.
