Raising the issue of the Undir Bandora sewage treatment plant (STP) yet again, the Undir locals are all set to challenge the construction licence, granted by the new panchayat body, before the panchayat director.
Undir Bandora locals, under the banner of Undir Paryawaran Saurakshan Manch (UPRM), briefed media on the issue on Friday. Gurudas Naik, advocate Surel Tilve and other members of the UPRM were present.
Gurudas Naik said that even after expressing opposition to the STP proposed at Undir, the newly-elected panchayat body has once again given the construction licence for the project without taking the locals into confidence. The locals have been opposing the proposed STP for the past one year and now they have decided to challenge the construction licence given by the panchayat.
“Locals of Undir are all set to challenge the construction licence before the panchayat director,” said Tilve.
The locals have protested on several occasions demanding the revocation of the NOC and finally got it revoked. The issue of the STP has rocked several gram sabhas of Bandora wherein the villagers had demanded to know the exact survey number of the proposed plant.
According to sources, the next gram sabha of the Bandora panchayat is scheduled on November 19 and the issue of the STP is expected to be discussed vociferously.
