The two-day bank strike has evoked sharp criticism from a large number of residents and business establishments in and around Bicholim taluka.
Many were seen rushing to various ATMs to withdraw cash, but were disappointed when many ATM machines had run out of money.
“Activities were badly affected due to the two-day bank strike, thereby affecting our production and other industrial activities,” remarked an industrialist, Rajanikant Lawanis from Bicholim.
A commercial shop owner, Suresh Mayekar from Vaiginium-Mayem, said he runs a computer hardware business and said that some of his clients were supposed to transfer money.
“Since banks were closed, I couldn’t get the money transferred and this severely affected my business,” said Mayekar.
