Ponda block development officer (BDO), in a spot inspection, has identified 60 unauthorised structures, including scrapyards, in Dhavali and asked Kavale panchayat to take necessary action against these structures within 30 days, through a written memorandum, on Wednesday.
BDO Prasiddh Naik alongwith Kavale sarpanch and other panch members inspected the Dhavali area near Farmagudi-Dhavali bypass junction on Wednesday evening.
During inspection, the BDO took note of around 60 unauthorised structures such as scrapyards, fabrication shops, godown, rented rooms, nursery etc which have been set up without taking permission from the panchayat or TCP department.
Based on the inspection, the BDO issued a memorandum to the panchayat asking it to take necessary action against the unauthorised structures within 30 days. BDO Naik said that the panchayat will conduct another inspection of the unauthorised structures in the area and all the persons residing or conducting business in these structures will be given an opportunity to produce relevant documents and if the documents are not provided within a timeframe, then action would be initiated against them.
Kavale sarpanch Rajesh Kavalekar said that these structures have been in existence in the locality for a long time and that many resolutions were taken by the panchayat to act against the illegal structures, but it lacked implementation.
