Supporting people in their demand to reconvene a dissolved gram sabha proved costly for Sadanand Gaonkar, deputy sarpanch Bethora-Nirankal-Konxem-Codar village panchayat.
Gaonkar was served with a notice of no-trust motion, after he, along with three other panch members and about 40 villagers, had demanded, on Wednesday, that the dissolved gram sabha be reconvened on October 30.
The decision to dissolve the gram sabha without having any business had annoyed the villagers from Bethora, Nirankal, Konxem and Codar, resulting in them confronting the panchayat members, including sarpanch, at their official premises for three hours.
In the memorandum submitted to the panchayat on Wednesday, the four panchas, including the deputy sarpanch Sadanand Gaonkar and panch members Prasad Prabhugaonkar, Premanand Shetkar and Manda Gaude, along with the villagers demanded that the gram sabha be rescheduled for the coming Sunday, said Prabhugaonkar, a panch member.
