Claiming that the Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza has assured to take the decision on technical approval given by the Town and Country Planning department to the ‘controversial’ Raheja project at Carmona-Salcete in a week’s time, Carmona Social Welfare Forum (CSWF) has warned that it will come on to the roads and expose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government if it fails to act in said time.
On the other hand, D’Souza, who is also holding TCP portfolio, said that the government has asked the Chief Town Planner to give final comment on the issue, adding that he has to consider both the sides before taking any decision in this regard.
The delegation led by Benaulim MLA Caetano Silva and CSWF president Succoro Miranda, on Monday, met D’Souza at the Secretariat, Porvorim and apprised him about the grievances on Raheja housing project at Carmona and urged to withdraw the technical approval given by TCP.
“Our demand is to revoke technical approval given by the TCP as it has been given without ascertaining the ground reality of the village. Deputy Chief Minister has assured us that he will sort out the issue in week’s time,” said Succoro Miranda and warned that the people from the village will hit the road and expose the government, besides will knock the door of court if the assurance is not fulfilled in given time.
He said that the villagers have got all the evidence as regards to how the authorities have given permissions to the project, without inspection of ground reality, ascertaining that their fight will continue till they get justice with the withdrawal of all the permissions given to said project.
Alleging that the previous Congress-led government has given all the permission to Raheja project illegally and now the BJP-led government is supporting it, Miranda announced that they are not just fighting for Carmona village, but they will take up such issues in other places of Goa.
“They had given memorandum to me, in which they have raised various issues including FAR and narrow roads and I told them I will be in a position to take any decision after file comes to me from the Chief Town Planner,” D’Souza told the media after the meeting.
