Chimbel villagers resolved to preserve the agricultural land with water bodies in its vicinity, which the government is eyeing for IT park as cultural heritage and petition the Prime Minister and others for its protection.

A member, Gurudas Shirodkar’s suggestion to this effect was accepted by members at a gram sabha of Chimbel panchayat on Sunday.

The members criticized chief minister, Laxmikant Parsekar, alleging that he was misleading people on the IT Park issue and pledged to raise a mass agitation to oppose the project in agricultural land, on which tribals were still cultivating and eking out their livelihood.

Sarpanch Manisha Chopdekar presided over the meeting with secretary Ashish Naik.
