Discussing the issue at the gram sabha, on Sunday, the villagers said that many areas of the villages, especially Indiranagar, have been badly affected by the garbage.
Meanwhile, the panchayat cleared the garbage dump at Indiranagar and nearby areas since last three days. Sarpanch Shibhan Borkar informed the meeting that the collection of garbage and its disposal is a top priority for panchayat.
She informed Herald that garbage is a major issue affecting the people at large and the panchayat is focused on resolving the issue on priority.
“Right now we have cleaned the main road which was full of garbage, besides that Indiranagar which was never cleaned is made garbage free in last two days,” the sarpanch said. She mentioned that the process of identifying the land disposing garbage would commence soon.
“There are some social activists who are willing to give their land for the disposal of garbage, which will also be looked into in the coming days,” she said. The issue of IT park at Chimbel did not come up discussion as the panchayat has not been communicated of the same by the government.
The sarpanch said that some people have been opposing the project based on newspaper reports. Some of the villagers also raised the issue of digging of roads in Chimbel by a telecommunication company without permission from panchayat.
Meeting resolved to initiate action against the company which has dug up the road to lay cables without taking NOC from village panchayat. Sarpanch said that process would be initiated soon.
