The Chimbel panchayat authorities had to face a major embarrassment as the villagers forced the deletion of a resolution which was wrongly recorded in the minutes of the previous gram sabha.
Citing the glaring error at the gram sabha on Sunday, Gurudas Shirodkar said the issue of a villager using filthy language against deputy sarpanch Chandrakant Kunkolkar was only discussed and no resolution was adopted by the villagers that the panchayat should file a police complaint in this regard.
“However, the resolution recorded states that the villagers urged the panchayat to file a police complaint, which is totally wrong,” Shirodkar stated while adding that the anomaly did not end there as the name of the one who proposed the resolution was also manipulated.
“While the other resolutions have been made very short, this particular resolution has been deliberately lengthened with addition of details never discussed at the gram sabha and hence the resolution should be deleted,” Shirodkar demanded which was accepted by the panchayat authorities as other villagers also raised their voice in support of Shirodkar.
Though Deputy Sarpanch Kunkolkar tried to justify the recording of the resolution stating that it was discussed at the panchayat meeting, villager Paul Fernandes said the panchayat authorities should not mix the minutes of its fortnightly meeting with that of the gram sabha minutes.
The issue of builders encroaching on open spaces also figured at the meeting with Tukaram Kunkolkar demanding that the panchayat conduct an inspection of such projects and take necessary action.
“In wards 6 and 7, several projects have come up where the builders have encroached upon open spaces and hence it is the duty of the panchayat to act against such violations and violators,” he added.
Lourdes Conception also raised the issue of illegal bore wells being sunk in the village and demanded that the panchayat should take action against the perpetrators. Conception also provided the names of the colonies where such illegal bore wells have been constructed.
