Even as the government is all set to lay the foundation for the IT city at Kadamba Plateau in Chimbel later this month, the Chimbel panchayat authorities feigned ignorance over the issue and informed that the panchayat has not received any intimation from the government on the issue.
Responding to queries from the villagers at the gram sabha on Sunday, the Deputy Sarpanch Chandrakant Kunkolkar could only say that the panchayat has not received any correspondence from the government on IT city, till date.
The issue of the IT city was raised as the panchayat failed to send the resolution taken at the last gram sabha wherein the villagers had voiced opposition to the setting up of IT city in the village.
Panchayat secretary Ashish Naik informed that since the panchayat had not been intimated on the IT city project, there was no point in sending the resolution to the government.
However, when the villagers pointed that the foundation stone for the project will be laid later this month, only then did the panchayat authorities agree to send a copy of the resolution to the government, citing opposition raised by the villagers on various grounds.
The issue of the NH4A road widening project being taken up by the government was also raised at the gram sabha with one of the affected resident, Paul Fernandes, demanding that the width of the road should be maintained at only 20 metres wherever there are residential houses.
