Issues of illegal renting of rooms, water shortage and commercial projects dominated the Colvale gram sabha which was held at the Colvale panchayat hall.
Villagers raised the issue of water shortage in the village and the panchayat passed a resolution not to issue any licence to commercial projects in the village till the water crisis is resolved.
The sarpanch Dasharath Bicholkar said that the village panchayat will not issue any NOC to the mega projects in the village till the water crisis is resolved.
The villagers also raised the issue of illegal houses coming up in the jurisdiction of the panchayat wherein some people are found giving accommodation on rent though they do not have any toilet facility and that the occupants are using water and electricity but do not give any revenue to the panchayat.
Villagers also voiced fear that since the occupants stay without police verification, they may turn out to be anti-socials and urged the police to carry out drive to see that the police verification is done.
Prakash Korgaonkar raised the issue of rented rooms which do not pay any revenue to the panchayat as such a tax should be fixed.
Villagers also asked the sarpanch as to how much revenue is being collected from the rented rooms as the panchayat does not have any data. The sarpanch told the gram sabha that the panchayat is not getting any revenue from rented rooms and that it will fix a tax on the rented rooms to generate revenue for the panchayat.
Villagers also raised the issue of the number of commercial establishments which are coming up at Birla at Karaswaddo and sought information as to how many commercial establishments have come up illegally.
The villagers also questioned the panchayat as to when it will start door-to-door garbage collection.
The sarpanch said that the village panchayat will soon start door-to-door garbage collection for which a proposal is being sent to the government and due to the delay to get the necessary funds, the proposal is delayed. He also said that the panchayat will give dust bins to villagers to collect garbage.
The villagers suggested that people intending to construct any religious structure should take prior permission from panchayat, and that no religious structure should come up without the permission of the panchayat.
