Dramapur village panchayat has acted against another illegal work atop a hill along the Navelim-Dramapur border wherein hundreds of trees were destroyed to build an illegal road and construct a shed.

The incident came to light after villagers noticed unprecedented activity on the hill close to Navelim-Dramapur border and alerted panchayats of both the villages. During a site visit, it was found that hundreds of trees were damaged to build a road through communidade land.

The villagers also found that an illegal metal structure was built without proper permissions and even underground electricity cables were laid.

Acting on a complaint from villagers, the Dramapur panchayat issued a stop work notice to the promoters and directed them to provide necessary permissions to the panchayat.

The hills along the Navelim-Dramapur village, earmarked as no development zone, have been under constant threat from land sharks who have encroached on vast tracks of land including the canal project area.

Dramapur panchayat is also been fighting a legal battle against a construction carried out by encroaching on communidade land wherein several plots have been sold and developed by migrants.
