The Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said that the state government will grant permission in holding electronic dance music (EDM) events like Sunburn and Supersonic in the state as it would attract a large number of tourists, not only domestic, but also foreign tourists, adding revenue to the government’s coffer.
The Tourism Minister was speaking on the sidelines of an office inauguration of Power Minister Milind Naik at Baina on Tuesday late evening in the presence of Power Minister Naik, Bharatiya Janata Party state unit president Vinay Tendulkar, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, deputy chairperson of Mormugao municipal council Shashikant Parab, councillors Bhavana Bhosle, Leo Rodrigues, Nilesh Navelkar, former councilors Shekhar Khadapkar and Sanjay Satardekar, Keshav Prabhu, Prasad Prabhugaonkar and others.
“The event organisers of Sunburn and Supersonic have applied for permission with the tourism department wherein the tourism department have asked them to produce the required documentations”, stated Parulekar and further disclosed that the dates of the events will be finalised in another 8 days, after issuing permissions to the event organisers.
Speaking over the proposed Baina beach beautification project, Parulekar said that the first phase work, estimated to cost Rs 1.90 crore will be kicked off tentatively on December 20. He disclosed that there is a proposal of Rs 12.50 crore works to be taken up by the Tourism department in the twin constituencies of Mormugao and Vasco. The Power Minister Naik said, “The contribution made by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar towards the state and its people will always be remembered”, and further opined that the felicitation function scheduled on December 13 will be a mark of respect to Parrikar. The BJP state unit president Tendulkar and South Goa MP Sawaikar also spoke on the occasion.
