Acting on complaints from residents, the Kavlem panchayat recently inspected the construction site at Amegol-Kavlem.
Residents have accused the builder of damaging a rainwater drain constructed by the panchayat and a retaining wall of the Nullah.
“I don’t understand how authorities gave permission to this project when a public well is barely a metre away. The builder plans to construct five flats in an area of 412 sq. mtrs. This project will destroy the well,” said a villager, Ravindra Naik.
Kavlem Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar and Deputy Sarpanch Sunita Naik inspected the site and expressed surprised over the permissions granted to the project.
“I will write to the Town and Country planning department as well as health department to know on what basis was the builder given permission for the project. The panchayat has, so far, not issued any permission to the project,” said Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar.
