PWD minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar alias ‘Sudin’ laid the foundation stone at the Khandepar bridge site on Thursday. Union minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari, had laid a foundation stone for the Khandepar bridge at a joint function at Panaji on April 9.
Work on the approach road of the bridge has been going on and the actual work on the bridge would start now, Dhavalikar said.
Dhavalikar also announced that the government has planned another four-lane bridge over the Mandovi river at Banastarim. Formalities for the new four-lane bridge are going on and the work will soon commence for the bridge, he said.
Besides widening of the road from Usgao to Old Goa, it will have three flyovers at Farmagudi, Corlim and Old Goa, he said.
