Acting sarpanch of Carmona Orlando D’Silva, on Monday, threatened to ‘expose everyone in the village in connection with the Raheja project,’ even as he played down rumours of he resigning as the deputy sarpanch.

Speculations were rife that the acting sarpanch was planning to step down ahead of the panchayat body meeting after his extended absence from the village panchayat office.

The deputy sarpanch has been under sustained pressure and has been facing widespread criticism from the villagers for allegedly misleading the panchayat and concealing important facts while issuing the construction licence for Raheja project.

Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’, the acting sarpanch said, “Why should I resign, and step aside when I have done nothing wrong. I am definitely not resigning and at the gram sabha I will expose everyone.”

Meanwhile, a delegation of Carmona villagers will be meeting the South Goa Collector Sachin Shinde and South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar on Tuesday morning over the ongoing battle against the Raheja project, and will be apprising them of the present situation.

A high-level team from Coastal Regulatory Zone Management Authority is expected to visit the Raheja site later in the day, while a team from Town and Country Planning Department is also expected on September 30 afternoon.

Benaulim MLA Caetano Silva is also expected to be present at the site for inspection.
