The aim of organising a health camp is to cater to the needs of villagers and senior citizens by providing specialist doctors from Goa Medical College, said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
Speaking further Rane said that such camps will be held in all panchayats of the state and requested the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to make budgetary allocations to organise such camps.
Rane was speaking during the second mega medical camp which was held in Nagargao, Sattari. Around 597 villagers from Nagargao Village Panchayat took the benefit of the services provided by the Directorate of Health Services, Goa Medical College and Goa Dental College.
Rane, said, “Through these health camps our government is providing medical facilities at the doorsteps of people from remote areas who are unable to get specialised treatment. The camp offers specialised doctors in the field of surgery, obstetrics, gynaecology, ENT, general medicine, pediatrics, dental and orthopedics”. He further said that doctors in the camp will be giving green referral slips to patients who need further treatment and instructions have been given to GMC to admit the patients on priority basis.
Around 128 patients were referred to various hospitals in the state for further treatment. Goa Medical College, Dean, Dr Pradip Naik, Dean of Goa Dental College Dr Ida Noronha, Health Officer of CHC Valpoi Dr Gajanan Naik, Nagargao Panchayat sarpanch Parag Khadilkar, Zilla Parishad member Premnath Hazare, Panch member Laxmi Harwalkar were also present for the medical camp.
