Minister for Transport and leader of MG Party (MGP) Sudin Dhavalikar, on Sunday, appealed to the party workers to get ready for the forthcoming zilla panchayat (ZP) elections as the party intends to contest it on its own.
“If we make it (win) on our own then we would not need anyone (alliance),” Dhavalikar added.
MG Party held a special general body meeting at Farmagudi on Sunday.
Minister for Co-operation and president of MG Party Deepak Dhavalikar, Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar, former MLA Rohidas Naik, Ratnakar Mardolkar, Apa Telhi, Narayan Sawant and others were present on the dais.
Sudin Dhavalikar said that the MG Party can contest the next assembly election without an alliance.
“We have to strengthen the party by forming committees with good administration skill. If we do it, then, we don’t have to worry about winning the seats and getting to power,” he added.
Speaking about the recent politics in Ponda, he said that two parties are working together to inflict damage on the MG Party. “Everyone knows that two political parties are working together to put us (MG) down, but their dream will never come true,” he thundered.
Dhavalikar, who is a part of BJP-led government, didn’t name the two political parties.
Earlier, Deepak Dhavalikar while welcoming the gathering said that some amendments to the party constitution were needed for the betterment of the party and have been done after central committee gave its approval.
MLA Lavu Mamledar, who spoke in Konkani, said, “MG Party has always worked for people and it the party comes to power nobody will be deprived of anything.”
Mamledar expressed optimism that the number of party legislators will increase in the assembly election.
Former MLA Rohidas Naik while speaking on the occasion said that the party will make progress only when it reaches every house.
“Today, there is no clean administration. There is fear among the people on many issues. We have to change this situation and it can happen only if MG comes to power,’’ Naik added.
