Issues of mobile tower revenue and children’s park were raised at the poorly attended Anjuna gram sabha held at the panchayat hall.

A local Ramesh Naik sought to know how much revenue was collected in the last four months from the mobile tower installation.

The sarpanch of Anjuna- Caisua, Savio Almeida said that he would be giving the statement of account of the mobile tower in the next gram sabha.

Another local Michael D’Souza said that a children’s park is needed for Anjuna and added that this would not only benefit the children but also the senior citizens.

To this the sarpanch replied that the village panchayat is in talks with the communidade of Anjuna and added that the panchayat has given a proposal to the managing committee of the communidade to identify land so that a children park is constructed. He further admitted that this is a very long pending issue which the panchayat is serious about.

The villagers also raised the issue of music being played very loudly along the beach belt till the wee hours disturbing not only the school going children but also the senior citizens. The villagers further decried the lackadaisical attitude of the authorities to the issue.

The sarpanch told the gram sabha that he would be writing to the police to act against the noise pollution by restaurants and hotels along the

beach.

On another issue, the locals wanted more names to be added to the village development committee which is being constituted by the panchayat to carry out developmental works in the village.
