A new multipurpose government building and an auditorium are some of the projects proposed for Bicholim town.
Speaking to Herald, Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal said he had a meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and officials in the chief minister’s chamber to discuss on different projects for Bicholim town.
“After discussion, it was decided to construct a multipurpose project to bring all government offices under one roof. The new complex will be constructed by demolishing the existing government offices building, police and the fire station. As per the proposed plan, there will be an auditorium with a capacity of 500-600 people,” said Sawal.
“It was also decided to shift the existing police and the fire station in the industrial estate area and land measuring 6000 sq mtrs and 4000 sq mtrs will be allotted for the police and the fire station respectively.”
“There will be provision for shops in the new building on the ground floor and ample parking space. Once the construction work for the new project is approved, the existing police station will be shifted at the old PHC premises,” the MLA added.
The meeting was also attended by acting chief secretary Parimal, Deputy Collector Pradeep Naik, Sanjit Rodrigues of GSIDC, SP Arvind Gawas, DySP Gajanan Prabhudesai, Fire Services Director Ashok Menon, PI Ninad Deulkar and a representative of the construction company.
