The villagers of Nachinola panchayat grilled the panchayat body over the Anganwadi issue and questioned the safety of children at the gram sabha held on Sunday.

Sarpanch Trupti Bandolkar said that she would shift the anganwadi into panchayat premises until the proposed construction of room and toilet is ready for the anganwadi. The Sarpanch also assured that by December 19 the room will be constructed with toilet and kitchen facility.

Chaos was witnessed during the Nachilona gram sabha meeting over the issue of the pathetic condition of the anganwadi. Gram sabha member Ritesh Kotwale questioned the measures taken by the panchayat for the safety of children at the anganwadi and demanded a reply from the sarpanch.

Addressing the gram sabha the sarpanch said, “A new room with attached toilet and kitchen will be constructed for the anganwadi by December 2017”. She further added, “The entire issue is politically motivated over the allotment of a room to a hotel. The incharge of the anganwadi has never raised the issue before the panchayat” she said. However a villager suggested that the anganwadi be shifted to rented premises until the new room is constructed. The villagers again questioned on what ground the room was taken back and handed over to a hotel.

Later, sarpanch Bandolkar announced that until the new room is constructed with kitchen, the anganwadi will function from the panchayat premises.

During the meeting the panchayat secretary appealed to all villagers to cooperate and keep the village clean. He said that around two rickshaws of beer bottles and cans were collected from various places in the village. Another gram sabha member Yogesh Chodankar suggested of having more police patrolling in the village to keep a check on miscreants.
