Parra panchayat is the first in Calangute constituency to go online after deputy speaker and MLA Michael Lobo launched the panchayat website on Thursday, in the presence of sarpanch Delilah Lobo and panchas.

Speaking on the occasion, sarpanch Delilah said that with the launch of the website ( the villagers will be able to avail of services at the click of a mouse. She said all information pertaining to different forms, government schemes and documents required, panchayat resolutions has been put up on the site and it can be easily downloaded.

“Our future plan is also to accept house tax online and we are working in that direction. People can also make a complaint if streetlights are not functioning. The website will be updated every month,” she said.

Further MLA Lobo informed that existing panchayat building would be demolished and a new panchayat ghar would be constructed and the project plan will be kept for people’s suggestions.

He informed that the building will be a multi-storey structure with a hall on top and that e-library facility can also be provided.

Meanwhile, the sarpanch thanked the Deccan Chemical for their support in the last 5 years in providing watermelon seeds to the farmers and lending help in cultivation through provision of fertilizers. She said this year the farmers will also be given muskmelon seeds and plans are there to extend more help to the farming community.

It was informed that on December 23 there will be a star making activity in Parra and that every household should make a star.
