Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday maintained that the government would not go ahead with the proposed IT park at Chimbel without taking along the villagers and the panchayat on the project.
Last Sunday, gram sabha of the Chimbel panchayat resolved to oppose the IT park and three other projects, which have been proposed in the village.
Briefing the media persons after a cabinet meeting, Parsekar said the people have seen the fiasco of IT habitat which had been proposed at Dona Paula, and where most of the plots were sold to builders. Because of such happenings in the past, the Chimbel villagers are opposing the proposed IT project.
He said this time the government would provide all details about the IT park to the Chimbel panchayat, adding that without taking the locals into confidence the government would not go ahead with the project.
Parsekar also said that in the case of the proposed electronic city at Tuyem in Pernem taluka the government would take the local panchayat into confidence and provide them with details of the project once the proposal is finalised by the consultant.
The government has already started the work on road, water supply and power substation at Tuyem, he said, adding the government would also construct a building for past students.
He also said consultation process for IT policy would be completed by next fortnight and the policy would be ready by December-end.
