GenNext president Durgadas Kamat has complained to the Goa Human Rights Commission (HRC) that the Ponda Municipal Council’s garbage dumping site at Kerya-Curti Khandepar poses a health hazard for the workers who are ‘forced’ to stay inside the site.
Addressing media persons, he said, “Taking note of his April 13 representation, the Commission had sent notices to concerned departments including Urban Development and PMC chief officer.
Kamat said GenNext has also submitted memorandum to Governor Mridula Sinha drawing her attention towards the treatment plant which was supposed to be setup by PMC at Kerya in Curti. Despite High Court order to setup plant, the same is yet to become a reality. The garbage is just dumped at the site. He further stated that the workers are ‘forced’ to stay inside the garbage dumping site, which is a serious issue, and appealed to look into matter.
