Water Resources Development Minister Dayanand Mandrekar stated that projects worth Rs 8 crore are being taken up by Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar in Tivim constituency.
He was addressing a function at Camurlim after inaugurating the work for a protection wall to be built at a cost of Rs 55 lakh and repairs to a Bundh at a cost of Rs 73 lakh. Both projects are to be completed within four months.
Among the major projects planned for Tivim constituency include a bypass road in Assanora, a ground at Sirsaim, a hospital at Pirna, the Tuem-Camurlim Bridge and a new industrial estate in Sirsiam.
“Kandolkar has already initiated projects worth Rs 5 crore in Tivim constituency, while works worth Rs 3 crore have been tendered,” said Mandrekar.
In his address, local MLA Kiran Kandolkar requested farmers to take up farming activities in Camorlim as he had initiated the work to strengthen the Bundh at a cost of Rs 73 lakh.
“Fields must be brought back to their lost glory and they should be protected in my constituency,” he said.
Commenting on the erosion of the Bundh along the Chapora River at Darbar Vaddo in Camurlim, Kandolkar said the government had decided to strengthen the Bundh by constructing a 330-metre-long protection wall to prevent saline water from entering the fields.
