The Raheja project issue figured once again at the Carmona gram sabha on Sunday with members demanding rectification of the minutes of the previous gram sabha which had deliberated on the housing project.
When the secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting, members cried foul over the recording of the minutes in respect of discussions on the Raheja project. They raised a host of queries with the Chair, while demanding rectification of the minutes.
An agitated member pointed out that he had moved a resolution at the previous gram sabha specifically demanding that Raheja project should not be given approval by the panchayat body.
The meeting witnessed uproar after personnel of the Colva police made their appearance felt inside the hall. The very presence of the police personnel triggered protests from the gram sabha members, who demanded an explanation from Sarpanch Lavita Dias. The police personnel had to beat a hasty retreat as they left the meeting hall following the uproar.
Meanwhile, Sarpanch Lavita Dias informed that the new panchayat premises are set to be inaugurated on December 19.
She informed the gram sabha that the new premises of panchayat ghar will be handed over to the panchayat body by month end by the RDA authorities, adding that necessary approval for the furnishing work of office having been obtained from director of panchayat. Sarpanch further request gram sabha members to give names to constitute Village Panchayat Ward Development Committee within next 15 days as the body had received just two names.
