Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has said the estimated cost of the Keri-Tiracol bridge is `78.32 crore, while the number of people staying in the Tiracol village is just 205.
“This bridge is being constructed as per the budget announcement and is not based strictly on need parameters,” he added, pointing out, “Besides, the bridge links the part of Goa, which for past 50 years has remained de-linked from the state. Moreover, the Aronda-Kiranpani link bypasses the Goan village of Tiracol,” he noted.
In a written reply to the state legislative assembly, Parrikar said the proposed Keri-Tiracol bridge is designed to cater traffic volume of 1,600 passenger car unit.
“The Keri-Tiracol bridge is not a signature bridge but a simple arch bridge having span of 210 mt,” he mentioned, noting that the 210 mt span is inevitable due to environmental compliances.
