The town and country planning (TCP) department has withdrawn Sancoale and Issorcim village areas from the Vasco da Gama planning area with immediate effect, after protests from some quarters.
The Goa government had declared the Vasco da Gama planning area, comprising, among other villages, the two areas under the operation of the Goa, Daman and Diu Town and Country Planning Act, 1974.
Some villagers had protested the inclusion of their village areas in the jurisdiction of the PDA.
But after considering the issue, the government decided to withdraw the two villages from the planning area in public interest.
The order signed by TCP chief town planner ST Puttaraju was notified on Thursday.
The two villages lie on the border of Vasco town in Mormugao taluka and have witnessed heavy development, but still have some pristine areas.
