Sancoale Panchayat has resolved to develop an open space at Housing Board Colony, Upas Nagar, for a Joggers’ park and Children’s garden under the Golden Jubilee Celebration fund.
The deadline to utilise the fund is December 2013, failing which the fund will be returned to the government.
Speaking to Herald, Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar said the panchayat initially had decided to develop a circle (junction) at Sindolim and also to widen the road.
“However, it was not possible to get NOC from one of the land owners. Thereafter, the panchayat decided to develop the open space and the estimates has been sent to the Mormugao BDO for approval,” informed Borkar.
Borkar also informed that the Sancoale dispensary would be taken over by the government to provide health facilities, a proposal which was initiated by the panchayat and local MLA Alina Saldanha.
“To begin with, there will be a government doctor visiting thrice a week,” Borkar told Herald. During the tenure of former sarpanch Narayan G Naik, the dispensary was totally renovated with sponsorship from the companies.
