Santa Cruz MLA Antonio Fernandes has said that he is still firm on his stand that the villages from his constituency should be removed from the jurisdiction of Greater Panaji Planning and development authority (GPPDA).
Speaking to this daily on Saturday, the Congress legislator said that the villagers from Santa Cruz have already made a representation to the department of town and country planning demanding removal of the village from GPPDA.
Stating that he is expecting a response from TCP officials to the villagers, he went on to add that people have been opposing the move over inclusion of parts of Santa Cruz village in the GPPDA, as they feel it will destroy the eco-sensitive areas like Bondvale lake.
“I will also discuss the issue with chairman of GPPDA, Atanasio Monserrate,” Fernandes said adding that the government should consider the sentiment of the villagers.
Meanwhile, St Andre MLA Francisco Silveira has said that he has convened a meeting of all seven panchayats in his constituency on March 7 at 3.30 pm at Batim panchayat hall wherein T&CP officials will explain the people about GPPDA and its jurisdiction.
“The people will express their views on inclusion of the villages from constituency or not during the meeting. Accordingly, I will clear my stand on it before the people,” he added.
