Carmona panchayat, in its general body meeting, has agreed to withhold the process for renewal of trade licence of a resort at Olvaddo, Carmona.
The decision comes after residents complained of loud noise, unwanted behaviour of guests visiting the resort and traffic problems on the narrow road leading to the resort.
Following the complaints, the panchayat had conducted an inspection of the resort. At the inspection, a decision was taken by Carmona sarpanch Winston Dias to check whether the resort had applied for a commercial or residential licence.
At the general body meeting held on Sunday, it was decided to withhold renewal of the trade licence issued to the resort and direct them to submit documents from a competent authority authorising the change of use of their residential project to a commercial one.
The panchayat has stated that the documents available with them including the occupancy certificate and technical clearance limit their use to a residential purpose only.
They have also decided to write to the TCP for clarification on the completion certificate that was issued. “If they fail to produce any documents then the resort would have to shut operations from October 27. The decision will be conveyed to the resort owners immediately,” said panch member Allwyn George.
As part of the meeting, a resolution was also taken to approach the director of education to use part of their property in the government primary school premises as a children’s park cum play area.
