Two important pages of a minute’s book relating to developmental issues belonging to the village panchayat of Chicalim were found missing on Wednesday afternoon. The incident was reported soon after a visit and inspection carried out by the Mormugao BDO.

The Chicalim village panchayat secretary Siddhesh Faldessai has lodged a police complaint against some unknown person over the missing of two pages from the minute’s book.

As per information from the Chicalim panchayat secretary Faldessai, he submitted the minute’s book to the Mormugao BDO Mohini Halarnkar when she visited the panchayat office at around 12.45 pm for the purpose of inspection.

The Mormugao BDO had inspected the panchayat office premises and then had a glance on the minute’s book.

The missing pages of the minute’s book came to light soon after the Mormugao BDO left the panchayat office.

The Chicalim panchayat secretary disclosed that the minute’s of the previous panchayat meeting was supposed to get confirmed in the meeting scheduled to be held at 3 pm at the panchayat office on Wednesday, but the missing of two pages has surprised the panch members.

Speaking to The Navhind Times, the sarpanch of Chicalim panchayat Veronica Andrade and the former sarpanch Anacleto D’Souza expressed surprise over the missing of two pages from the minute’s book.

Sarpanch Andrade disclosed that there were some important proceedings recorded in the minute’s book which was related to the developmental works besides several other projects to be taken up within the panchayat jurisdiction. Surprisingly the panch members who attended the meeting could not confirm the previous minutes due to the missing pages.

“I have immediately brought the incident to the notice of the Vasco police and have also intimated the deputy director of panchayats”, stated Andrade and further disclosed that a written complaint has been filed at the Vasco police station wherein police sub-inspector Harish Gawas is investigating the case.

When contacted the Vasco police disclosed that no offence has been registered against any person till late Wednesday evening.
