As heavy showers lashed various parts of the taluka late Monday night, residents of some villages in Bicholim taluka are facing an acute shortage of water since Monday evening. “The taps have run dry and the situation has not been restored till Tuesday,” a resident of Bordem said.

Complaints of shortage of water were rife among residents from Sonar Peth, Bordem, Lakherem, Bandarwada, Industrial Estate area, Gaonkarwda, Karapur-Sarvan and surrounding areas. “We are unable to cook our food and even to bathe due to shortage of water” lamented Suresh Chodankar, a resident of Sonar Peth in Bicholim. When contacted, PWD authorities claimed that there was no chance to supply water as power was interrupted to more than six hours.
